How to get PY/PM to your school

f you would like to help bring PY/PM to a school in your area, here are some ideas about how you can help.
- Download the PY/PM General Information Packet (PDF). Take this packet to the superintendent of schools or elementary principal. Let them know how important it is for the children in your community to know how the human brain works, what can harm their brains and how they can protect their own development.
- Contact your local MADD chapter and find out what contacts they may have made in your school district or what coalitions and other groups and contacts they work with that are interested in the underage alcohol use prevention field and in knowing more about the program. These groups may work with you to get the program into the schools.
- Find out if your community hosted a Town Hall Meeting to address underage drinking and if so, who the contact is. Let that contact know that PY/PM is a good follow up to address the community’s concerns. Visit www.stopalcoholabuse.gov/townhall to find out where Town Hall Meetings have been hosted.
- State Farm is the National Sponsor for Protecting You/Protecting Me. Contact your local State Farm agent and let them know you are interested in partnering with them to bring PY/PM to your school.
- For additional ideas on how you can get PY/PM to the schools in your community please email us at pypminfo@madd.org.
Protecting You/Protecting Me helps students in grades 1 through 5 achieve more by learning the importance of protecting their brains through: group activities, structured discussion, role play, exploring real life topics and issues and parental involvement.
